2018 in Focus
In 2018, a group of founders in Boston converted dissatisfaction into a food business. The result was Eastern Standard Provisions, established as an artisanal brand to "elevate the snack food experience." Its first texture brief called for a buttery, chewy pretzel with a brioche-like interior and traditional Bavarian crust instead of the lackluster choices they had encountered. The company now names Waltham, MA as headquarters.
The finished soft pretzel is handcrafted with high-quality ingredients, and the recipe contains no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives. Its light, airy brioche-style middle is deliberately different from the traditional Bavarian-style crust that encloses it.
